Traditional narrative analyses do not apply to pop videos 
• Reasons for different narrative structure:
          > pop videos are built around song, songs do not follow traditional narrative structure
          > singers are used as both character and narrator 
          > single looks directly into the camera trying to involve the viewer and break the 4th wall. 

• pop videos rely on repetition of images following the repetition of the song itself (repetition of choruses an lines) 
  
• pop songs and videos have a form of closure and ending, the video builds to a climax or to a constant repetition then fades away. 
   
• 3 types of relations between song and videos: 
         > illustration - video tells the story of the lyrics, an example is 

         
        > amplification - video introduces new meaning and adds layers of meaning to the lyrics, an example is 
         
       > disjuncture - there is little or no connection between the lyrics and video, the video contradicts the lyrics, an example is
