Planning: branding through colour

In order to successfully brand our artist, I took a look at some of the ways in which we could do this by taking a look at album and single cover artwork from a range of different female pop artists. I did not look at male pop artists in this instance as it is clear that they are branded in a different way, and this is importantly because the creators/producers of the promotional material intend the artist as a product for a different audience.

I created a collage of a few album and single covers which can be viewed below. This made it easier for me to see correlations between different uses of colour within artwork:

There is a prevalence of bright colours being used in the artwork which I had observed. This is most likely intending to capture the attention of the target audience. There is at least one use of red or purple across these collection of covers from well-known female pop artists. The two tones of purple being used in Nicki Minaj's 'Starships' single cover works very well with it's white background as it creates a striking image for it's audience.
